VPN Setup Guides

  • Once you have obtained your User ID and Password, please follow the steps below to setup your VPN connection for Windows 10:

    1. Log on to your Windows 10 PC with an administrator account, and click the 'Start' button from the bottom-left corner of the screen. From the left section of the displayed Start menu, under the 'Places' section, click 'Settings'.
    2. On the open 'Settings' window, click the 'Network & Internet' icon.
    3. From the left pane of the open 'Network & Internet' window, click to select the VPN category. Then from the right pane, click on '+' Add a VPN connection option'.
    4. On the 'Add a VPN connection' box, populate the fields with the correct values. Make sure that the 'Remember my sign-in info' checkbox at the bottom is checked, and click 'Save'.
    5. Once the new VPN connection is successfully created, go back to the 'Network & Internet' window, click to select the newly created VPN connection from the right. Once selected, from the available buttons, you can either click 'Connect' or, if needed, you can also click the 'Properties' button to make changes to the created VPN connection.
    6. After closing all the windows, you can still easily connect to the VPN server by clicking the 'Network' icon from system tray at the bottom-right corner of the window, and clicking the 'Show available connections' under the 'Additional settings' section of the Wi-Fi or Ethernet category of the opened 'Network & Internet' window.

  • Once you have obtained your User ID and Password follow the steps below:

    1. Log on to your Windows 10 PC with an administrator account, and click the Start button from the bottom-left corner of the screen. From the left section of the displayed Start menu, under the Places section, click Settings.
    2. On the open Settings window, click the 'Network & Internet' icon.
    3. From the left pane of the open 'Network & Internet' window, click to select the 'VPN' category. Then from the right pane, click on “+ Add a VPN connection option”.
    4. On the Add a VPN connection box, populate the fields with the correct values and under 'VPN type' choose: 'Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec…'. Make sure that the 'Remember my sign-in info' checkbox at the bottom is checked, and click 'Save'.
    5. After the information is saved and the new VPN connection is successfully created, go back to the 'Network & Internet' window where 'VPN' is still selected on the left. Now on the right panel under 'Related Settings' click on 'Change adapter settings'.
    6. A new window will open with your network connection. Right-click on 'Liberty VPN' and click on 'Properties'. In your VPN connections properties select the 'Security' Tab and click on the 'Advance settings' button.
    7. Now select 'Use preshared key for authentication' and enter the key found in the welcome email. Click 'ok' and 'ok'. Then go back to the 'Network & Internet' window where 'VPN' is still selected on the left, select the new connection created on the right and click on 'Connect'.

  • To switch to L2TP/IPSec please follow the steps below:

    1. Log on to your Windows 10 PC with an administrator account, and click the Start button from the bottom-left corner of the screen. From the left section of the displayed Start menu, under the Places section, click Settings.
    2. On the open 'Settings' window, click the 'Network & Internet' icon.
    3. From the left pane of the open Network & Internet window, click to select the VPN category. Then from the right pane, click on 'Liberty VPN' (or the VPN connection you have created).
    4. Click on the 'Advance options' button and then 'Edit'.
    5. Under 'VPN type' choose: 'Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec…' and 'Save'.
  • To set up a connection in Windows 10 please follow the steps below:

    1. Go to https://www.clientconfig.com
    2. Login with username and password received
    3. Click on .exe file “Windows Installer” to download (the .ovpn is for Mac)
    4. Click on Run
    5. Click on Run again to run installation
    6. Press 'Install'
    7. If a window pops up that software is not authenticated by windows click “continue anyway”
    8. Then double-click on the OpenVPN desktop icon to open the program
    1. Download & save on Desktop the Liberty VPN SSTP Dialer here
    2. Double-click on the icon (Liberty VPN Dialer.pbk) and choose which server you want to connect to using the drop down menu.
    3. Click on the "Connect" button.
    4. Enter your login details (provided above).
    5. Click on the "Connect" button.
    6. You are now connected!

    In order to disconnect double-click on to the icon (Liberty VPN SSTP.pbk) and click the button "Hang Up".

  • Once you have obtained your User ID and Password, please follow the steps below to setup your VPN connection for Windows 8:

    1. Go to the ‘Start’ Menu, click on the lower left corner and the Start menu pops up. Click on ‘Search’.
    2. Next, type ‘VPN’ in the Search App box. Select ‘Set up a virtual private network (VPN) connection’ on the left side. If you do not see anything on the left side then you may have to click Settings below the Search App box.
    3. If you just want to set up VPN for now without Internet Connection then select ‘I’ll set up an Internet connection later’ (you should already have an internet connection).
    4. Enter your login credential i.e. username and password. Then click on the ‘Create’ button.
    5. Now enter ‘Internet address’ (IP provided in welcome email) and ‘Destination name’ (for example Liberty VPN).
    6. Finally, Click on the ‘Close’ button.

  • Once you have obtained your User ID and Password follow the steps below:

    1. Open 'Network and Sharing Center' from Control Panel. Then choose 'Set up a new connection or network'.
    2. In the next window, choose: 'Connect to a workplace' and click 'Next'.
    3. In the next window, choose 'Use my Internet Connection' (VPN).
    4. Under 'Internet address' enter the IP address of the Liberty VPN server you want to connect to.
    5. Then enter 'Liberty VPN' as the name of the connection in the destination name box (you can name it anything you like). Then click 'Create'.
    6. Click on the monitor icon on the bottom right-hand corner.
    7. Right–click on the 'Liberty VPN' connection, and choose 'Properties' from the menu.
    8. Under the 'Security' Tab for 'Type of VPN' select 'Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec (L2TP/IPsec)'.
    9. Then click the 'Advanced settings' button and enter the preshared key which is: 'secureserver' and click 'OK'.
    10. Tick on 'Allow these protocols' then tick on 'Microsoft CHAP version 2 (MS-CHAP v2)' and click 'OK'.
    11. Click again on the monitor icon on the bottom right-hand corner, find 'Liberty VPN' connection and click 'Connect'.
    12. Type '\' (without quotes) then your VPN username and password and click 'OK'.
    13. Your done!

  • To switch to L2TP/IPSec please follow the steps below:

    1. Click on the monitor icon on the bottom right-hand corner.
    2. Right–click on the ‘Liberty VPN’ connection, and choose ‘Properties’ from the menu.
    3. Under ‘Security’ Tab for ‘Type of VP’N select ‘Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec (L2TP/IPsec)’.
      Then click ‘Advanced setting’s button and enter the ‘Pre-shared key for authorization’ which is: secureserver and click ‘OK’.
      Tick on ‘Allow these protocols’ then tick on ‘Microsoft CHAP version 2 (MS-CHAP v2)’ and click ‘OK’.
    4. Click again on the monitor icon on the bottom right-hand corner, find Liberty VPN connection and click ‘Connect’.
      Type your VPN username and password and click ‘OK’.
    5. Done, your Windows 8 now should be connected to the VPN server via L2TP/IPsec protocol.

  • To set up a connection in Windows 8 please follow the steps below:

    1. Go to https://www.clientconfig.com
    2. Login with username and password received
    3. Click on .exe file “Windows Installer” to download (the .ovpn is for Mac)
    4. Click on Run
    5. Click on Run again to run installation
    6. Press 'Install'
    7. If a window pops up that software is not authenticated by windows click “continue anyway”
    8. Then double-click on the OpenVPN desktop icon to open the program
    1. Download & save on Desktop the Liberty VPN SSTP Dialer here
    2. Double-click on the icon (Liberty VPN Dialer.pbk) and choose which server you want to connect to using the drop down menu.
    3. Click on the "Connect" button.
    4. Enter your login details (provided above).
    5. Click on the "Connect" button.
    6. You are now connected!

    In order to disconnect double-click on to the icon (Liberty VPN SSTP.pbk) and click the button "Hang Up".

  • Once you have obtained your User ID and Password, please follow the steps below to setup your VPN connection for Windows 7:

    1. Go to 'Start' and click on 'Control Panel'.
    2. In the window that opens click on 'Network and Internet'.
    3. Now Click on 'View Network Status and Tasks'.
    4. Click on 'Set up a new connection or Network'.
    5. A new window opens, please click on 'Connect to a Workplace'.
    6. Then click on 'Use my Internet Connection (VPN).
    7. Enter the IP address for our welcome email and a name for the connection such as 'Liberty VPN'. Also check the box 'Don't Connect now; just set it up so I can connect later', and click on 'Next'.
    8. Enter the username and password that you have received by email, check the box 'Remember this password' and click on 'Create' and then 'Close'.
    9. Click on the Network Connection icon in the task bar on the bottom right hand side of your screen (next to clock).
    10. Click on the connection (Liberty VPN for example) once and then right-click to choose 'Properties'.
    11. Click the Options tab - uncheck 'Include Windows logon domain' if checked.
    12. Now click on the 'Security' tab. Choose the 'PPTP' from the drop down menu.
    13. For Authentication, choose 'Allow These Protocols' and select CHAP and MS-Chap2.
    14. Now click on the Networking tab. Uncheck 'Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)' & 'Client for Microsoft Networks' and press 'Ok'.
    15. Your Windows 7 VPN is ready. To connect, simply click on the connection in the task bar and select the VPN connection. Click connect.

  • Once you have obtained your User ID and Password follow the steps bellow:

    1. Go to 'Start' and click on 'Control Panel'.
    2. In the window that opens click on 'Network and Internet'.
    3. Now Click on 'View Network Status and Tasks'.
    4. Click on 'Set up a new connection or Network'.
    5. A new window opens, please click on 'Connect to a Workplace'.
    6. Then click on 'Use my Internet Connection (VPN).
    7. Enter the IP address for our welcome email and a name for the connection such as 'Liberty VPN'. Also check the box 'Don't Connect now; just set it up so I can connect later', and click on 'Next'.
    8. Enter the username and password that you have received by email, check the box 'Remember this password' and click on 'Create' and then 'Close'.
    9. Click on the Network Connection icon in the task bar on the bottom right hand side of your screen (next to clock).
    10. Click on the connection (Liberty VPN for example) once and then right-click to choose 'Properties'.
    11. Click the Options tab - uncheck 'Include Windows logon domain' if checked.
    12. Now click on the 'Security' tab. Choose the 'L2TP/IPSec' Click on the 'Advanced Settings' button shown in the image below. You will be asked to enter a Pre-shared Authorization Key (secureserver) and click 'Ok'. from the drop down menu.
    13. For Authentication, choose 'Allow These Protocols' and select CHAP and MS-Chap2.
    14. Now click on the Networking tab. Uncheck 'Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)' & 'Client for Microsoft Networks' and press 'Ok'.
    15. Your Windows 7 VPN is ready. To connect, simply click on the connection in the task bar and select the VPN connection. Click connect.
  • To switch to L2TP/IPSec VPN please follow the steps below:

    1. Right-click on your Network Connection icon on the bottom right hand side of your screen (next to clock)
    2. Click on Open Network and sharing Center.
    3. Click on ‘Change Adapter Settings’ on the left menu to view VPN connections.
    4. Right-click on the VPN connection (Liberty VPN) and choose properties.
    5. Go to the ‘Security’ tab and change Network Type to L2TP.
    6. On the same tab click on the button that says ‘Advance settings’, Select ‘use pre-shared key’ and enter: secureserver
    7. Click on 'Ok' and then connect.

  • To set up a connection in Windows 7 please follow the steps below:

  • To setup an SSTP connection please follow the steps below:

    1. Open the Control Panel from the Start Menu and double-click on the Network & Internet Connections.
    2. Under Networking and Sharing Center, Click on 'Connect to a Network'.
    3. Then, Click on 'Set up a connection or Network'.
    4. Select the 'Connect to a Workplace' at the bottom of the list and then press 'Next'.
    5. You will be asked, 'How do you want to connect?' Select 'Use my Internet Connection (VPN)'.
    6. In the box labeled Internet address enter the IP address provided in our initial e-mail. In the box labeled Destination name enter 'LibertyVPN'. Unselect the first two check boxes and select the box 'don't connect now, just set it up so i can connect later' Press 'Next'.
    7. Now enter your Username and password (provided in our initial e-mail) then check 'Remember this password' and press 'Create'.
    8. The screen will show, 'The connection is Ready to use' Click the 'Close' button to return to the 'Network and Internet' screen.
    9. In the Network and Internet screen, click on 'Connect to a network' again.
    10. In the Connect to a Network screen, you should see the Liberty VPN connection that you have set up. Right-click on the Liberty VPN connection and choose 'Properties' from the menu that appears.
    11. Click on the 'Options' tab. Make sure the checkbox labeled 'Include Windows logon domain' is NOT checked.
    12. Click on the 'Security' tab. The security option should be 'Typical', 'Require Secured Password' and ONLY check 'require data encryption'
    13. Click on the 'Networking' tab. In the list of items that you see, make sure that only the 'Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4)' and 'Client for Microsoft Networks' items are checked. If other protocols are checked, uncheck them by clicking on the checkbox.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: To use L2TP/IPSec , go the Networking Tab of the VPN properties and change the 'Type of VPN', then click 'IPsec Settings' and enter the pre-shared key: secureserver.

Once you have obtained your User ID and Password, please follow the steps below to setup your VPN connection for Windows Vista:

  1. Open the Control Panel from the Start Menu & double click on the Network & Internet Connections item
  2. Under Networking and Sharing Center, Click on 'Connect to a Network'
  3. Next, Click on 'Set up a connection or Network'
  4. Select the 'Connect to a Workplace' item at the bottom of the list and press 'Next'
  5. You will be asked, 'How do you want to connect?' Select 'Use my Internet Connection (VPN)'
  6. In the box labeled Internet address enter IP address provided in e-mail. In the box labeled Destination name enter 'Liberty VPN'; Unselect the first two check boxes and select the box 'don't connect now, just set it up so i can connect later' Press 'Next'
  7. Now enter your Username, password, check 'Remember this password' and press 'Create'.
  8. The screen will show, 'The connection is Ready to use' Click the 'Close' button to return to the 'Network and Internet' screen.
  9. In the Network and Internet screen, click on ,'Connect to a network' again.
  10. In the Connect to a Network screen, you should see the Liberty VPN connection that you have set up. Right-click on the Liberty VPN connection and choose 'Properties' from the menu that appears.
  11. Click on the 'Options' tab. Make sure the checkbox labeled 'Include Windows logon domain' is NOT checked.
  12. Click on the 'Security tab. The security option should be 'Typical', 'Require Secured Password' and ONLY check 'require data encryption'
  13. Click on the 'Networking' tab. In the list of items that you see, make sure that only the 'Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4)' and 'Client for Microsoft Networks' items are checked. If other protocols are checked, uncheck them by clicking on the checkbox.

To use L2TP/IPSec, go the Networking Tab of the VPN properties and change the 'Type of VPN', then click 'IPsec Settings' and enter the pre-shared key: secureserver

  • Once you have obtained your User ID and Password find the approporiate Mac version below.

    MAC OS X 10.10 Yosemite

    1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click 'Network'.
    2. Click 'Add' ('+') at the bottom of the network connection services list, click the 'Interface' pop-up menu, then choose 'VPN'.
    3. Click on 'VPN Type' pop-up menu, and then choose 'PPTP VPN'. Name the VPN service, "Liberty VPN" and then click 'Create'.
    4. Enter the server address (IP address) and the account name (VPN username) for the VPN connection (in welcome email).
    5. Click on 'Authentication Settings' and enter the information you received in our welcome email.
    6. 'Check' the box next to “Send all traffic over VPN connection” to send all network traffic over the VPN connection regardless of the network service you use, such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
    7. Click 'OK', then click 'Connect'.

    Select 'Show VPN status in menu bar' to use the VPN status icon to connect to the network and switch between VPN services.

    To remove the VPN configuration, select the VPN network connection service in the list and click 'Remove' ('-').


    MAC OS X 10.7 Lion

    1. Open 'System Preferences' (select the Apple icon in the upper left-hand corner and the System Preferences)
    2. Select 'Network' under the 'Internet and Wireless' category
    3. Click the '+' icon on the sidebar. Please Note: If you can't click the '+' (plus sign), click the padlock icon next to 'Click the lock to make changes'. Enter the password for an administrator account on your Mac, and then click 'OK'.
    4. Selecting the VPN Type:
      1. As the Interface, select 'VPN'.
      2. As the VPN Type, select 'PPTP'.
      3. As the Service Name, enter 'Liberty VPN' or anything else you may want to name it.
      4. Click 'Create'.
    5. Configuring the default settings:
      1. Leave the Configuration drop-down option as 'Default'.
      2. Server Address: Enter the server IP address provided in welcome email.
      3. Account Name: Enter your VPN username from welcome email.
      4. If you are the only user of your machine: Select 'Authentication Settings' and enter your password under 'Password'. Click 'OK'.
      5. If not already selected, select 'Show VPN status in menu bar'.
    6. Click 'Apply'.
    7. You may now securely connect via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection to our service by clicking 'Connect'.

    MAC OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

    1. Click on 'Network' under System Preferences.
    2. Click the '+' sign to create a new service.
    3. From the Interface pop down menu choose 'VPN'. VPN Type: L2TP IPSec or PPTP.
    4. Change the Service Name to 'Liberty VPN' or whatever you like and then click 'Create'.
    5. Click 'Authentication Settings'.
    6. Put your server address, login and shared secret from your welcome email. Click 'Apply'.
    7. Click Advanced (after apply!) and check the box 'Send all traffic over VPN connection'.
    8. Click DNS and add the DNS servers by using the '+' sign, you need two 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. After you add them click 'OK'.
    9. Click the box 'Show VPN status in menu bar' so you can easily connect and disconnect, and now hit the connect button to connect to your VPN.

    Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard

    1. Click on the Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network.
    2. Click on the '+' button to add a new Network Connection.
    3. In the next window, select/input the following: For Interface, select VPN. For VPN Type, select PPTP For Service Name, type in 'Liberty VPN'.
    4. In the next window enter the following information: For Server address, type in the IP address given to you. For Account Name, type in your login given to you.
    5. Click 'Apply'.
    6. Click the Advanced button and under the Options tab make sure to check Send all traffic over VPN. Press 'OK'
    7. You have successfully setup your PPTP VPN connection in Mac OS X Leopard.
    8. If internet traffic is not being sent over the VPN then go to 'System Preferences' > 'Network' and click on your VPN connection. Click the 'Advanced' button, and in the 'Options' tab make sure that 'Send all traffic over VPN connection' is checked.

    Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger

    1. Open the 'Applications' folder by going to the Finder and choosing 'New Finder Window' from the 'File' menu. Click on the 'Applications' icon, then scroll down until you see the 'Internet Connect' icon.
    2. Double-click on the 'Internet Connect' icon. You should see a new window.
    3. Next, go to the 'File' menu and select 'New VPN Connection Window.' Click 'PPTP,' then click 'Continue.'
    4. Enter the information. In the 'Server Address.' box type the IP address. Enter username & Password. Encryption should be set to Automatic and 'Enable VPN on demand' should be unchecked
    5. Click the 'OK' button. Your configuration is saved, and you're ready to connect!

  • Once you have obtained your User ID and Password find the approporiate Mac version below.

    MAC OS X 10.10 Yosemite

    5. Click on 'Authentication Settings' and enter the information you received in our welcome email. The 'Shared secret' is also provided in our welcome email.
    6. 'Check' the box next to “Send all traffic over VPN connection” to send all network traffic over the VPN connection regardless of the network service you use, such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
    7. Click 'OK', then click 'Connect'.

    Select 'Show VPN status in menu bar' to use the VPN status icon to connect to the network and switch between VPN services.

    To remove the VPN configuration, select the VPN network connection service in the list and click 'Remove' ('-').


    MAC OS X 10.7 Lion

    1. From the Apple menu, select 'System Preferences'. When the System Preferences window opens, from the View menu, select 'Network'.
    2. Near the bottom left corner of the Network window click the '+' (plus sign). Please Note: If you can't click the '+' (plus sign), click the padlock icon next to 'Click the lock to make changes'. Enter the password for an administrator account on your Mac, and then click 'OK'.
      1. In the sheet that appears, next to 'Interface', choose 'VPN'.
      2. Next to 'VPN Type', choose 'L2TP over IPSec'.
      3. As the Service Name, enter 'Liberty VPN' or anything else you may want to name it.
      4. Click 'Create'.
    3. In the 'Server Address' field, enter the appropriate server IP address that is provided in the welcome email.
    4. In the 'Account Name' field, type your VPN username we provided you in the welcome email.
    5. Click 'Authentication Settings'. In the 'User Authentication' section, make sure Password is selected, and then enter your VPN password
    6. In the 'Machine Authentication' section, make sure Shared Secret is selected, and enter the L2TP 'Shared Secret' provided in the welcome email.
    7. Click 'OK'.
    8. Click 'Advanced'. Under the 'Options' tab, make sure 'Send all traffic over VPN connection' is checked, and then click 'OK'.
    9. Click 'Apply' to make a VPN connection and click 'Connect'.

    To display a small VPN icon in the upper right corner of your screen, leave Show VPN status in menu bar checked. You can then click this icon and select from several options in the pull-down menu, rather than having to access VPN options from System Preferences.


    Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

    1. Go to 'System Preferences' in the apple menu and then click on 'Network' that is located under 'Internet & Network'
    2. On the bottom left, if the lock icon looks 'locked', click on it and type in your Administrator Name and password.
    3. Click the '+' icon to make a new VPN connection
    4. A new window appears. Click on the 'Interface' menu to see the list of choices. Select 'VPN'.
    5. Now change the 'VPN type' and select 'L2TP IPSec VPN' and for 'service name' name it something like 'Liberty VPN'. Click 'Create'
    6. Now you can start entering your VPN account information and when done, click on 'Authentication settings'.
      1. Configuration: Default
      2. Server address: In the welcome email
      3. Account name: Username found in welcome email.
      4. Encryption: Automatic
    7. In the 'Authentication Settings' window fill in the settings and press 'OK'.
      1. User Authentication: Enter you password found in the Welcome email
      2. Machine Authentication: enter the shared secret found in email
    8. Click 'Advanced' and make sure 'Send all traffic over VPN connection' is checked and now click 'OK'.
    9. Check the box to 'Show VPN status in menu bar' for easy access later and now click Apply to save the settings.
    10. Click on the VPN icon in the menu bar at the top right corner and select Connect Liberty VPN or whatever you named it.
    11. To disconnect from the VPN, click on the VPN icon again and select Disconnect Liberty VPN.

    Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard

    1. Click on System Preferences in the apple menu and then click on ‘Network’ that is located under ‘Internet & Network’.
    2. On the bottom left, if the lock icon looks ‘locked’, click on it and type in your Administrator Name and password.
    3. Click the '+' icon to make a new VPN connection. A new window appears. Click on the 'Interface' menu to see the list of choices. Select VPN.
    4. Now change the ‘VPN type’ and select ‘L2TP IPSec VPN’ and for ‘service name’ name it something like Liberty VPN. Click ‘Create’.
    5. Now you can start entering your VPN account information and when done, click on ‘Authentication settings’.
      1. Configuration: Default
      2. Server address: In the welcome email
      3. Account name: Username found in welcome email.
      4. Encryption: Automatic
    6. In the ‘Authentication Settings’ window fill in the settings and press ‘OK’.
      1. User Authentication: Enter you password found in the Welcome email
      2. Machine Authentication: enter the shared secret found in email
    7. Click 'Advanced' and make sure ‘Send all traffic over VPN connection’ is checked and now click ‘OK’.
    8. Check the box to ‘Show VPN status in menu bar’ for easy access later and now Click ‘Apply’ to save the settings.
    9. Connect by selecting your VPN connection in the connection list and click the ‘Connect’ button.

    Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger

    1. First, open the 'Applications' folder by going to the Finder and choosing 'New Finder Window' from the 'File' menu. Click on the 'Applications' icon, then scroll down until you see the 'Internet Connect' icon.
    2. Double-click on the 'Internet Connect' icon. You should see a new window.
    3. Next, go to the 'File' menu and select 'New VPN Connection Window.' Click 'L2TP over IPsec,' then click 'Continue.'
    4. On the next screen click the 'Other' popup menu, then select 'Edit Configurations.'
    5. In the Description box type 'Liberty VPN'. In the 'Server Address 'box type the IP address. Enter username & Password. In the Shared Secret box type 'secureserver'. 'Enable VPN on demand' should be unchecked.
    6. Click the 'OK' button. Your configuration is saved, and you're ready to connect!
  • To switch to L2TP/IPSec VPN please follow the instructions below:

    1. Open system preferences and click onto 'Network'.
    2. Click the '+' button on the network connections pane.
    3. From the drop down menu select 'VPN' followed by 'L2TP' then click 'Create'.
    4. Enter the server(IP address) that was issued to you in the welcome email into the 'Server Address' field and the account username in the 'Account Name' field then click the 'Authentication Settings' button.
    5. Enter your 'Password' and the Shared Secret 'secureserver' then click 'OK'.
    6. Click the 'Advanced' button.
    7. Tick 'send all traffic over VPN connection', press 'OK'.
    8. Click 'Apply'.
    9. Leave the 'Show VPN status in menu bar' box ticked and press 'Connect'.
    10. Finished! You can Connect/Disconnect to the server from the menu bar.
  • To set up a connection on a Mac, a Graphical User Interface called Tunnelblick will be needed. To install this GUI, and OpenVPN please follow the steps below:

    1. Download the package from the site http://www.tunnelblick.net. It is a Zip compressed file which contains the GUI and the OpenVPN software.
    2. Double-click on the zip file (we suppose it is located on the Desktop) to extract the only file that contains. The executable file called Tunnelblick appears on the Desktop.
    3. Double-click on the file Tunnelblick to start the program. A dialog box appears to alert you that configuration files must be stored in the directory Library/openvpn/. Press [Continue] and then close the openvpn.conf configuration file. We will not use this example file;.
    4. Tunnelblick is now installed and its icon appears near the clock. At this point, you have to configure OpenVPN to establish the VPN connection.
    5. Get the file .ovpn from https://www.clientconfig.com and use the Finder to put it in the directory Library/openvpn of the user home directory.
    6. Close Tunnelblick by clicking the [Quit] item from the menu that appears by clicking on the Tunnelblick's icon. Restart it again by double-clicking on the Tunnelblick program. Choose it to start the VPN connection.

    To use VPN on iPad, you need to configure VPN first.

    Configure VPN

    Go to Settings > General > Network > VPN > Add VPN Configuration. Then use the VPN settings for your device.

    Choose 'PPTP VPN' on the top. If you Choose L2TP (recommended) then you must enter the 'Secret' which is: secureserver

    • Server = your computer's external IP or hostname, in welcome email
    • Account = your account login, in welcome email

    Turn VPN on or off

    If you have created a VPN configuration, you would find the option to turn VPN on or off in the 'Settings'.

    First disable Wi-Fi on iPad, then start VPN in the settings. Wait until it finishes connecting and the status bar would has the VPN icon.

    Please Note: Your iPad will drop VPN whenever changing the networks.

    10. Now you should see Liberty VPN connection in list. Tap on it.
    11. Authorization window will appear. Enter your username and password (password is case sensitive).
    12. You should be successfully connected now.
